The masses come to the field by using four-wheeled vehicles of truck and minivan and two-wheeled vehicles. They demand to stop the criminalization of Papua Governor, to stop characters assassination of him, and the politicization of education in Papua.

They also ask for the legal process conducted by the Police of the Republic of Indonesia against the governor to be stopped. They promised that Papuans are ready to occupy the office of the Governor of Papua as long as the Papuan governor is yet to return to Papua.

If the demands are not to be fulfilled they declare that Papuans are ready to boycott the 2019 legislative election and Presidential election.

The crowd has started since early in the morning, and more people keep coming in as the sun go high.

Meanwhile in Jayapura city, Papuans who are members of Luka Enembe (LE) Volunteers for Papua Province are willing to walk from Waena Expo and Perumnas III Waena to Abepura, Jayapura City.

Denius, one of the rally orators, said they walk for the rally to the office of Papua Governor and Papua Regional Police Headquarter (Mapolda). “For the sake of our leader of Papuan people, Mr. Lukas Enembe, we are ready to walk without using vehicles,” said Denius, in his oration while crossing Padang Bulan, Tuesday (September 19).

In addition, there are residents who watch and support the rally and by called out to stop criminalization, stop discrimination, and “only LE can protect the Papuan people”.

Didymus, another orator said Papuan officials especially LE are described as a cow tied to death by the owner. So the space for the Governor of Papua is very narrow.

“Do not make our leader’s a slave, the Governor is like a cow tied by his master, but Mr. LE is the governor who must protect his people, especially the schoolchildren,” he said.

Further said, he questioned the Police Chief, who will bear the consequences of the termination of scholarship for Papuan students?(*)
